Pilates is a method which aims to create balance in the body, whilst many forms of exercises create tightening of
certain muscles and over-stretching of others. The aim of the Pilates program is to correct postural imbalance. This is
achieved through a learned series of strengthening and mobilisation techniques.
"Physical Fitness is the first pre-requisite of Happiness"
Instructors, Stella Bouchet and Dea Allen have been trained by Alan Menezies; the founder of Pilates Institute
in Australia. Alan's teachings include a greater understanding of the positioning of the body during exercise which
carries on to the everyday activities of one's life. Maximum performance is achieved through focused effort on specific
muscles, weak muscles being stretched and bulky muscles elongated.
The Pilates Origin Josef Pilates (pronounced Pi-lah-tees) developed exercise programs in the early 1900s which he found assisted dancers with their performance by improving muscle balance, flexibility, co-ordination and especially helping with their injuries. The method then developed to cater for persons other than dancers who required a similar program e.g. Athletes. In fact anyone can benefit from Pilates Institute training whether fit or unfit, injured or uninjured, 8 to 80 years old. BENEFITS
