The Aquasafe program is the YMCA's own aquatic education program. Developed in conjunction with the Royal Life Saving
Society the program is enjoyed by children in over 150 aquatic centres across Australia. This fully sequenced aquatic
education program not only teaches this essential skill for life but promotes development in body, mind and
spirit.

Infant ProgramWater babies; From 6mths A relaxed and encouraging atmosphere for tiny tots and toddlers. The program progresses from gentle splashing and water exploration through to paddling and kicking techniques. For children and parents a wonderful opportunity to enjoy quality time. Preschool; Preschool age children start to develop greater water confidence and familiarisation. They learn to interact with the group, to follow basic instructions and learn independently. Children progress from blowing bubbles and floating to swimming unaided using basic strokes. Primary Program School Age; Swimming is an essential skill for life at an integral time. The early years of school are an impressionable time and water confidence will equip your child to take on the challenge. This program is an enjoyable combination of stroke development and water safety. Children advance through the levels into competent swimmers who can enter squad or lifesaving programs. |
